COVID19 Tracking Economic Impacts – Arizona’s Economy
AZ legislators should be currently and visibly engaged in efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID 19.
Education, Healthcare, and Employment, which are intricately connected and interdependent, are areas of concern that call for immediate intervention. In terms of employment the Arizona administration and legislature must recognize the urgency and need to address:
1) historic job losses
2) historically low state unemployment compensation
3) the potentially permanent loss of 40% of Arizona’s small businesses
Upon my election, COVID-19 and it’s impact will be a number one priority. I intend to propose or support legislation and policies that promote job retention and creation, supplements areas of the labor force that are experiencing losses, provide increased and extended unemployment benefits with healthcare provisions, facilitates the safe reopening of schools to ensure the safety and availability of teachers and essential staff, and establishes a safety net and strategic, ongoing support for small businesses.
